About Us

The introduction to knitwear in our family started during the war as a postman in a small village on the outskirts of Leicestershire began to provide families with not only their mail but with classic British wool knitwear during those harsh winter months. Many years after, he then started production on a much larger scale on several traditional knitwear styles using pure British wool to supply a number of high street retailers many of whom are still around today.

Carrying on that legacy, J M Cooper Knitwear offer a full range of knitwear styles including ladies, men’s, children’s and a variety of accessories. All of our products are made from 100% British wool within our factory situated in Barwell, Leicestershire in the heart of the UK. Our British wool is sourced locally from a long-established British yarn spinner nestled in the outstanding rugged moors and beautiful valleys of Saddleworth, located within the Pennine Range. The yarn we use is natural and kept in the best quality to provide exceptional style, comfort and warmth in all our products.

Along with our stock list products, J M Cooper Knitwear have now become the leading manufacturers in bespoke design for both British and Merino wool. With an on-site design and sample team using the latest technology, we can produce high quality garments to meet any requirement.

Using the latest Stoll CMS 502 multi-gauge flatbed 5g and 7g knitting machines, we are able to manufacture around 1500-000 garments each week using sequential knitting techniques. Our extremely skilled team of passionate knitters ensure every garment that leaves our factory is of the highest quality with short lead times.
